The 2023 vine cycle was largely characterised by temperate weather
conditions right up till the eve of harvest. It was a balanced
vine-growing year with a very smooth flowering and a very early
veraison in mid-July, without excessive heat or water deficit stress.
The summer weather was favourable with a rise in temperatures in
late August, which enabled optimal grape ripening in each variety.

The Merlot was ripe, aromatic and fresh, while the Cabernet Franc
showed complexity and breed. Together in the 2023 blend, they are
mutually enhancing, bringing their hallmark and pedigree.

The Vieux Château Certan 2023, with its deep ruby-red colour, is
a very aromatic, velvety wine with excellent length of flavour. In its
balance and complexity, it recalls the foundations on which the
originality and renown of the great wines of Vieux Château Certan
were built.

"The first bottles may be enjoyed between 2030 and 2032, while the rest could be kept another fifteen years or more."
